Soap continued: she's back...
Give her a week and she'll be back. Sixty some days later, you'll have
kittens. Erm... so far your first prediction has become fact :-) She came back this morning ! She just stood there as if nothing had happened. Archibald is ignoring her though, I think he wants to have a few words with her ;-) Somehow I think your second prediction will materialize as well BTW :-) |

How I adore these uppity kitty cats. It is just none of your business
Where she's been! I suspect Archibald's nose is out of joint. Why the Idea.... taking up with Trash!! Sounds like she is probably in the family way right now. Of course she wont have any knowledge where they came from - But I'll bet she'll be a good little Momma. She does feel a little guilty though, I think : http://www.wide-o.net/cats/guilty.jpg Nah, scrap that: http://www.wide-o.net/cats/nope.jpg But I'll bet she'll be a good little Momma. Bof, maybe she isn't pregnant at all. I mean, just because she has been stuck to me like glue all morning (she normally doesn't I admit), is making strange high pitched purry noises, answers to every question I ask her, rolls on the floor (not laughing), and with her nipples are looking a bit funky, there's nothing that could possibly indicate she's pregnant. Is there ? ... ;-) Theo |

I sure am glad she's back, Theo! And she had a good time while she was out,
too (living up to her name, I see!) The "wet pets" hurt to lose, but the furry ones hurt more. Depending on your point of view, I'd call the vet and ask his/her opinion - unless you want the kittens (which are ALWAYS adoreable!) They have a "morning after" shot for animals, too. Can you find good homes for babies? Ah, the decisions! But at least she's home and safe. And you're right: she doesn't look too guilty, just tired! Congratulations! Well, time will certainly tell! Glad she's back and we want lots of pictures of the maybe-potential kittens. '+' k30a and the watergardening labradors http://www.geocities.com/watergarden...dors/home.html |

Darn, jammer... I can only say I hope it was one of the "good" cries - you
know what I mean. I'm not a religious person, but I'm sure there is a cat heaven, and I'm sure your kitty looks down at you with only good memories. The word "accident" needs to be taken literally... it was an accident, i.e. something you could not prevent. Try to not feel too guilty... As we all said to Cybe ... get another one if/when you feel up to it. No, you can't "replace", but you can partly "transfer" your admiration for these strange critters. They are all quite unique. To answer lots of things in one post (anti-spam me)... they do indeed "connect" to us more than fish. That's not to say fish are not worth mourning about... they are, but it's not the same. Don't ask me why though. It's like losing people close to you isn't the same as losing pets. OTOH, both my wife & me have one fish we would really mourn about... Betty, an Ochiba (Sigure for you nerdy lot ;-) ) Don't ask me why, I've seen Sophie's Choice, but he (yup, we got the gender slightly wrong) is so "tuned" to us, it's amazing. (which also makes it a selfish thing BTW... ). That said, the way cats can play us (if you are a cat person that is-) is quite overwhelming. Anyway. Sure, we did try to "rationalize" and have a few human candidates ready to house the kittens, but as you know with people, some (most ?) will opt out at the last minute (tax raise, kharma or biorhythm not right, favorite football team just lost ;-) ) If we can't find a nice home for them (which was the reason in the first place why we wanted "true" Coons, easier that way), we just keep the lot. It's not like they cost half of what it costs to feed a Koi is it ??? (think about it !) Lee, we (well I) do want the kittens. I'm not "policital" in my views at all, but this is what she wanted no ? Not my right to decide on it all. So, if all goes according to plan, we'll have 4-5 "trash" ;-) kittens in a few weeks. The "morning after" pill is pretty dangerous to cats as well BTW - at least that's what my vet told me. But even so, I think we will let nature run its course.* Nope, no guilt, and why should she ! She followed her instincts, so I'm the last person on earth to go "tut tut". I'm off to our local version of "home depot" to get me some wood, to build her a nest. Theo * you will not believe this, but we actually bought another Coon on the day she dissapeared. A male, in the hope she would like him and would want to have a nest with him... http://w1.243.telia.com/~u24311489/d...otos/Cream.jpg She would get used to him & all that "human" crap... I thought that was rather funny LOL PS: we get our cats from this lady: http://www.dorsai.be/ and if you are in a hurry, please look at http://w1.243.telia.com/~u24311489/dorsai/thecats.html ... amazing. We are allergic to cats but have been adopted by the neighbor's cat who claims our yard as his own and defends it to the last. He always greets us when we come home and we give him ear rubs (then wash our hands!). Oi, I'm smart me... I haven't picked him up yet, I really didn't want to make things more complicated than they already were :-) So next week, it's "Hi, welcome to your new home, these are the turtles, these are the fish, and this is your pregnant sister who doesn't need you anyway...the two hissing critters behind the curtain are your brothers BTW..." LOL He's orange and white and has tattered ears from his many battles. War wounds How do the dogs react to him ? Theo |

Good for you, Theo (and for Edina, too). I don't have cats right now (I have
4 dogs instead), but I always loved their independent nature. I've heard nothing but good (if you're a cat person, that is!) about the Maine Coons. It's good that she's safe: she had a good time, did what comes natural, and came home safe and sound. I was kidding about the "guilt": dogs have guilt; cat's are just too darn independent to have any G! Keep us advised - now your "global family" will be anticipating updates! We have two huge black cats that might be part Maine coon; they're each normally around 15-16 pounds and quite talkative. Poor Bootsie isn't feeling too well right now though; she twisted a claw on a hind foot and has an infection there. Been giving her antibiotics and hand-feeding her babyfood chicken and pedialyte for a week, and she's just starting to come around. Gotta love those resilient kitties; and all the other pets.
