pond in Ontario - and the winter we haven't had (yet)
Ya just had to let Mother Nature know she had forgotten us eh! Now we
have -13 C, my stream is frozen, my filter is frozen, and we have no idea what's going on in the pond except that water is moving where it isn't supposed to be. I expect a line has frozen then popped off or split. I guess it had to come sometime! Heather in Woodstock, Ontario "Don Falconer" wrote in message able.rogers.com... Should I be concerned? Fish are swimming around, not "sleeping". Approx. 300 gal x 28" deep max pond. 2 @ 6-8" koi and 5 small goldfish. Fish not fed since late Oct. as is my understanding should not be fed once water temp is less than 50 F. Has been unusually mild here in Whitby, Ontario i.e. about 48 F today. Should be 25-30 F and 2 to 3 " of ice on the pond. Had an inch or so of ice back in Nov. during a cold spell but is long gone. Pond is winterized with plants set in bottom, filter and pump removed, air bubbler bubbling away (in case we ever do get ice). Should I feed the fish since they seem to be active? Don |
