Day Lilies Not Blooming
Xref: 127.0.0.1 austin.gardening:21437
I recently purchased and planted some day lilies. At the time of planting, they had flowers, but have not produced any new blooms since then. They receive partial to full sun and I water them every/every other day. Am I over-watering??? Any advice? Thanks in advance! Adam |

Day Lilies Not Blooming
Thanks Victor.
They were planted about 3-4 weeks ago and may still be adapting as you suggest. Had a feeling that I was over-watering. Thanks for the confirmation and advice. "Victor M. Day Lilies Not Blooming
These plants do not re-bloom, in general. Some of the miniature varieties will
be everblooming on and off all summer, but for the most part they have one set of blooms per year. Do you know what named variety you bought? Sounds like Stella D'Orro. Remove the seed heads after flowering and it will
put up blooms on and off till frost. You have to feed the repeat bloomers. After removing spent flowers, give them a shot of Hasta Gro or granular organic fertilizer. Even bone meal will work. The newer selections are starting to bud up and bloom. They are truly a great perennial. My hope is that one day they will find a way to make the foliage dark purple and variegated! The perfect plant. |

I have newly planted day lilies, full sun. What should I feed them, and is
it very important to deadhead? What are the secrets of a great day lily garden? Advice welcome and appreciated. "Victor M. Martinez" wrote in message ... Day Lilies Not Blooming
It is important to feed them after they bloom, again during the summer, again
before frost. Deadheading is very important. It's done to stimulate root growth and foliar growth, which is how the plant photosynthesizes and produces its own food and bloom cycle for the following year. When I divide my plants (every other year) I mix a whole lot of bacterial and fungal based finished compost, along with soft rock phosphate. Here's a pretty good website: http://www.extension.umn.edu/distrib...re/DG1106.html On Fri, 06 Jun 2003 23:50:46 GMT, "LYNN FORRES" wrote: I have newly planted day lilies, full sun.
