Identification, please
Spouse bought me a ready planted hanging basket for my birthday last year,
it contained some variegated ivy, a small conifer, a primula and this: http://tinypic.com/141i1k7.jpg 'This' has outgrown the basket, I transplanted it to a large pot the other day but would like to know what it is, please. I thought it might be buxus but Spouse says not. It's evergreen and hasn't shown any sign of flowers in the last fifteen months. It's not causing any problem even to our titchy caravan ;-) TIA Mary |

The roots certainly were confined, and I had to destroy quite a lot - about 2/3 - to get it from the basket and away from the other roots. I also meant to say that it's about 9 - 10" tall and since I put it in the large pot it's spread, which convinced me that it wasn't box. Pity, I'd have liked to shape it. A hen of course! Next Question: Should I plant it in the open? If so, what conditions does it like? TIA Mary -- AnneJ |

"Anne Jackson" wrote in message ... Next Question: Should I plant it in the open? If so, what conditions does it like? Well, Hebes do well up here, where it tends to be a bit (!) cold, and the soil is acidic. I made the mistake of planting three Hebe's next to the terrace, and they've outgrown their space, and their welcome! They have longer, thinner leaves than yours, though. In the main I tend to keep them in (large-ish) pots, where they do well. Right, I'll do the same! I remember now that we had a purple/white flowered one (each flower was half and half) which I grew from a cutting and it became huge. Can't remember what happened to it though. Thank you again, Mary |
