Thought you might be interested .....

Visited Veddw again last Monday. There were a couple of coach parties
due.

The coach drive of one party ignored all the warnings and drove up
the lane to drop his passengers at the car park entrance.

He then drove on up the lane.

Realising he was in difficulty, he decided to attempt the 90 degree
bend by the blue front gate and got well and truly stuck. The other
coach driver stepped in to help while we watched. Having got the bus
unstuck after about 15 minutes, rather than reverse they decided to
drive on.

The next bend is over 90 degrees "back".

Half an hour later, the bus was back at the blue gate.

Two hand saws and a petrol pole pruner .......

Nearly another hour later the bus made it back to the main road. With
some lovely gouges in its paintwork and a buckled wheel arch.

Charles and I then spent half an hour clearing up.

The other coach party having been somewhat delayed, Charles made tea!

So some Veddw firsts!

That just proves the coach was from England, the driver could be from
Poland or anywhere.

Several years ago, I was in a coach party visiting Oxford Scientific Films. The coach driver was a little unsure of his destination, and seemed rather taken aback when someone said "wasn't that it, that we passed 100 yards back?"

He decided to do a U-turn in a petrol station further up the road. Unfortunately, it had a canopy. The canopy itself wasn't a problem, it was the lights protruding from the under surface. And it wouldn't have been such a problem had the coach driver stopped when he heard the first "crunch" instead of pressing on.

The look of incredulity on the garage owner's face was a marvel to behold!

I've had similar and in that case it was the Company not telling the driver
despite me sending maps with routes marked etc and warning of potential
problems.

TEA! I can't believe it! We've had one experience of a coach getting
stuck in a lane and never getting here at all. It turned out that the
leader of the party hadn't given the coach driver our very explicit
instructions which warned against using that lane! I'm imagining
Charles's 'enjoyment' of the episode now. I do hope he remembered his
camera...!

TEA! I can't believe it! We've had one experience of a coach getting
stuck in a lane and never getting here at all. It turned out that the
leader of the party hadn't given the coach driver our very explicit
instructions which warned against using that lane! I'm imagining
Charles's 'enjoyment' of the episode now. I do hope he remembered his
camera...!

He didn't - too busy with the pruner! But I managed a couple of pics.
I'm not sure about enjoyment as he and Anne were due to whip off to
West Wales as soon as the visitors had left and were running an hour
late by the time we finished.

I did notice that the tea got weaker as additional mugs were brought
out. Anne probably gave herself a muscle injury wringing the last bit
of flavour out of the second tea bag!

I get worried when I see grass growing in the centre of the lane.

We see a lot of that here in some lanes round us. One is actually known
as the Green Lane locally! The problem in Devon is the very high
hedges which disconcert a lot of people. I love the area round Chepstow
and Tintern and the lush green of it all and the river. Beautiful!

A great many, mostly with two wheels in total :-)

I don't get worried, because I learnt to drive in southern Wiltshire,
and often visited Cornwall, but the idiots around here don't know
how to drive in rural areas.
