Yesterday we had someone, in a stolen car, going around the area like a
nutter. Doing wheel spins and "burnouts".
I did my part by ringing the Police.
It was reassuring to be told that 5 other people, in the area, had also
reported it.
The Police came and arrested the driver, and the car was towed away.

Steve - I don't know if you're aware, but I had to click down a screen 9
times to read your post. A lot of people on urg have said they don't
bother to read posts if they have to scroll down to read them - snipping
all except the small reference to neighbourhood watch to which you wee
replying would mean that more people would read your post.

Possibly - but why should I, merely to fit in with the preferences of
someone who wishes to go against the conventions of the group?
I asked you perfectly politely, and under the assumption you weren't
aware of what you were doing - I think I can now assume you are
deliberate in posting against the conventions of this group and have no
desire to make your posts easy to read in the format used by the
majority of posters here.

The message om
from "Dave Liquorice" contains these words:

Yes, both connected direct to their alarm companies. IME, the police
had generally heard about the alarm going off from someone local,
before they received an alert from the alarm company.

Ah so these places are not particulary isolated then if a local can
alert the police before the alarm co.

IME, alarm companies are pretty slow off the mark to notify police; a
good 10 minutes or even longer.

Indicates that neighbours are
within indoor earshot at least, thats not very far with double glazing
etc...

In the countryside, sound carries a very long way. Thinly scattered
"neighbours" who happened to be outside, could easily hear an alarm from
a mile and a half away, well enough to identify whose it was from the
pitch and pulse. People there use much louder alarms than would be
permitted in a built up area.

Janet.

A simple way to use alternative energy to replace your home is some of your traditional outdoor lights, solar lights. These lamps have many advantages, are widely commercially available. They are easy to install and requires a minimum investment.

Hi There,

The solar garden lighting market is really quite opaque - when making a purchase you never really know what you're going to get and how it is going to perform - not just the brightness and longevity of light, but the quality of the materials used. For this reason I think it is fair to say that the solar lighting market has a less than favorable reputation.

However, there is real hope that comes in the form of Solar Technology International who, in our opinion, are the best manufacturer of solar garden lights in the market. The majority of the lights have a build quality that exceeds that of low voltage and electric lights, featuring high grade stainless steel and real glass lenses. The weight of the lights give an indication of their quality feel.

We sell the range of Solar Technology lights on our website, from fire pits and fire pit tables to solar garden lights, and while you will think this post is a marketing exercise, I can say genuinely that you will only find Solar Technology lights listed. This is because we take pride in selling quality, and they rarely ever come back to us to us, and we do have a point of comparison because we have sold other brands in the past that we found were not remotely of the same quality.

To summarise, the old adage, "you get what you pay for" applies, but also a certain amount of realism has to be applied to the capacity of a solar light. Solar means solar, so direct sunlight to the solar panel is the only way to get the most out of your lights. Sometimes an impression is created that solar lights will magically perform in shaded areas - this isn't really accurate. In heavily shaded areas the performance declines markedly.

I hope this helps, and I hope those who have lost faith take a moment to drop in and take a look at our range.

Matt
