Last frost
When is the average last frost where you are? When I lived in Portland, everyone believed that the last frost was always on Tax Day, April 15! Is this a saying anywhere else? Now I live in Northern California, where there's never any frost. Not in my corner of it, at least. Dreaming of springtime, Crystal Bucher |

Okay silly question here.
Are you suppose to prune the roses before spring or in the fall? -- Debbie (New Mexico) Life is too short "Mike" wrote in message news.com... This is the only thing I really hate about North Florida, the frosts: too frequent. No really really hard ones this winter, but I hate them. Mark., it's not zone 8b for nothing |

Seriously though, pruning time does depend on the individual rose. Most roses are pruned after the last danger of frost and before new growth begins in the spring. However, once bloomers are pruned (usually) in early summer, or immediately after they've finished blooming. There's even roses that don't like to be pruned at all. Noisette climbers, for one. The best advice is to know what you're growing and keep good reference handy. Helpful? Mike |

yes actually it was.
I've done both. It kind of depends on my mood. I know it's not nice to be moody with my roses. I bought some at the different stores locally and they don't live very long (2 years tops) But we do have one store that won't tell me what their secret is and theirs are still here after 4 years. The most beautiful orange and the other is purple. I have one climber which is a pain cause it grows and grows no matter how much I prune off. But I put up with it cause it does the most prettiest white roses. Anyway, thank you. -- Debbie (New Mexico) Life is too short "Mike" wrote in message news.com...
