Do you think the grubs will be out early this year due to all the warm
weather? How do you treat for grubs? Where can one get the best products to treat for grubs - I hate them as they destroy my lawn and plants. Also, snails and slugs chew my poor flowers! |

If you want to treat for grubs wait until about 4 weeks after you see the Jun bugs and then put the nematodes down. The grubs you find now have done all the damage they will do. It is the new hatch in the spring that eats the roots. You can use a bug bait for the slugs and snails. Green Light makes a good one which will also take care of the pill bugs. Good Luck. |

Pill bugs are harmless for the most part... Just don't let any veggies touch the ground. For slugs and snails, Dark Ale. Worked far better for us than cheap beer. They seemed to prefer the Irish Ale. We were out of the cheap stuff for snail bait in the dishes, so he put out what he had in the 'frige. I swear it attracted at least 3 times as many slugs as the Dos Equis did! Dad commented that slugs just had good taste. G -- Peace, Om Remove _ to validate e-mails. "My mother never saw the irony in calling me a Son of a bitch" -- Jack Nicholson |

As an IPA drinker, I could put down some Dog Fish Head 90 min IPA! |

Cliff's first response was spot on. Beneficial nematodes. But WOW, what a
thread. Maybe it's just that things are finally warming up and people are crawling out from under their rocks to get involved in the discussion, or maybe.....MORE BEER! Nothing like mentioning possum in the company of a Yankee to get the
conversation going...... Almost like saying Ginger?...or Marianne?......... or Star Trek?........or Babylon 5?....... I'm kinda liking the Ellie May versus the buttons thread drift myself... Wow,......... we only get possums for core aeration and I have yet to see them doing it, despite being up at all hours. |

My poor guy who lived in our yard for almost seven years, way beyond life expectancy has died. He came up near the house to die. Every night at about ten the neighbors dog would "woof" and I knew the opossum was out there, and he was. That's when they emerge, about ten. |

Until I got a dog, I always had at least one come in the cat door at night for years (two different houses). The cats ignored him/her, "I don't see that giant mouse...". They have very soft fur, btw, and don't seem to mind being petted after awhile...... |

I did some reading about them and they are smarter than dogs and are more in line with the intelligence of pigs, which is rather intelligent. I miss our little guy. Victoria |
