The message
from Martin contains these words:

Neither of my kids can do simple mental arithmetic, although they both have
degrees. They are from the generation where they were expected to use
calculator.

I've still got a schooldays calculator, but I can't find the battery
compartment, even if I pull the middle slidey door right out.

Can't find how to switch it on either innit.

Ah, the Co-Op, with its 'Ethical' policies...

I don't remember that Sacha, was that once the cinema ? But I remember St
Andrews Church where I was confirmed.

Yes, it was once the cinema and then was a rep theatre. There's a new and
glitzy one now. I don't think I remembered how small it was. I was there as
the very lowest form of human life, a student ASM, in 1964/65 (IIRC!)

Saw lots of things there in the old one by the White Hart, and later,
when it moved, on the onetime playing-field between North Street and
Billet Lane.

It was the fact that Italian is only spoken in Italy that made me
ask for an
intensive Italian course.

Has anyone told you yet that you aren't actually *IN* Italy?

Maybe it is just possible that I visited Italy every week.

The old one might have been, but I don't think so.

The new one was purpose-built.

I used to be a Fiend of Queen's Theatre...

But I remember St
Andrews Church where I was confirmed.
