Default Wierd Garden day

Well, it was raining, I was at home all day and sat reading by the
French Windows looking down the garden.

First the Pheasant came and I was able to get up feed it from the open
backdoor on peanuts in full view and it came within 2' and was
unperturbed by me talking to it and shuffling about.

Then it wandered down to centre of garden and proceded to have a doze!
It stood on one leg, hunkered down from the heavy rain and closed its
eyes. It napped on and off in that exposed spot for over an hour!

In the interim a baby squirrel came and noshed on the bird food and
made itself at home sitting on my garden chair and looked very pleased
with itself... In the background, 2 Jackdaws swung on my humble nut
feeder...

Then at 2.00, lunchtime, the fox appeared and sniffed round the bird
table and reached up and sniffed inside (I have it sitting on top of a
chimney pot on patio). I watched it saunter off only to reappear 30
mins later and again was unperturbed by me starring straight at it
through window only feet away... It obviously got scent of the other
visitors!

Then my very first Goldfinch to get into the bird table, but oh dear,
it was the wretchedist example as was obviously in full moult... In a
year, this is only the 5th to come into the garden.

And finally, two robins obviously mated, scrubbed around outside
windows and he insisted on beak-tobeak fedding her even though she was
also feeding herself!

Far from a usual day!

OH Mark.. you are so lucky)

((snip))

Yesterday on the allotments I felt I was being watched, I'm sure you know
that uneasy feeling, took a good look around and eventually spotted three
foxes sitting/lying in the long grass all around me, just watching me. The
way I was encircled I was glad it was just foxes. :-)
