Frosts
Ground frost can occur with air temperatures as high as plus 7C.
Worry about plants when air temps of ms 1 or less are forecast.(tender plants that is) I recorded a minimum air temperature (the temperature of the air at 4ft above ground level in a stevenson screen) of 2C last night, and had to scrape ice off the car as the temperature of the surface of the car (more like ground temperature) fell to below zero. The only damage to any plantsis a slight shrivelling of leaves of busy lizzies in a hanging basket. It could be another two months before anythinf colder is measured if past autumns are anything to go by. Nasturtiums have lasted until early Dece, mber in my garden the past two winters. Trevor East Yorkshire "John Edgar" wrote in message ... Does anyone know the differences between frost, air frost and ground frost and the implication each has for plants. Thanks John.
