Wel I will reply to my own post since so many of you people seem to enjoy
assigning human traits to animals. Have ANY of you ever heard of instinct ?,
no thought not.

Animals, such as cats hunt to live and in order to be able to live they need
to be able to hunt, it's an instinct, just because we take them into our
homes it doesn't mean we can drive their instincts away. Any wild animal
which hunts has to learn, and has to practise, they are not doing this for
"sport", or for fun they are doing it because without this ability they die.

Try to imagine that man was not always the great provider for the world how
many great predators would be around if none of them practised their hunting
?

As for foxes killing chickens in a shed, it has been proven that left alone
the fox will return and remove every last chicken it kills, it will then
bury this surplus of food in various locations for future lean times. This
is again a survival instinct, not a sport, and not done for fun. It's sheer
human arrogance and stupidity to assing human traits to this sort of thing.
Now a teenager who breaks into a shop, steals a packet of fags and then
trashes the whole place is not acting on any instinct, he's acting out of
malicious hate and stupidity.

It amazes me how many stupid people there are out there, a fox will hunt to
kill, and kill to live, now if you're going to open the equivalent of a fox
food supermarket in the middle of his territory you'd better take some
pretty damn good precautions otherwise he will eat your stock. We used to
keep chickens, we lost the entire collection twice in 13 years, both times
due to human error, it's not rocket science to protect chickens for goodness
sake. In 13 years we twice left a gate open, in walked the fox and ate the
chickens.

I guess from the majority of responses my original post got that the rest of
you simply won't be happy until the world has no predators left. Do any of
you feel anything when you see tigers, elephants, bears, rhinos, whales
being shot, simply because they are not eating your chickens are they really
any different. After all don't tigers sometimes eat people, don't elephants
sometimes crush people, haven't rhinos occasionally charged people, should
we really kill everything that moves on this planet simply because it's
inconvienant for us.

I have to admit it's conversations like this, with apparently "thinking"
people that make me despair for nature and wildlife in general.
