Default Emotions and Gardens.

I have refrained from making a posting such as this before because I am
sure someone will take the p*ss!
I am not superstitious and I am not prone to being led by my emotions
generally.

I have lived in my current house which has a large garden for about four
years. It was very overgrown when I arrived.
I have spent sometime clearing it and making flower beds and a veggie patch
amongst other things. I haven't finished yet by a long way.

There is a part of this garden which worries me. I can only describe it as
having a "presence".
Its spooks me. I find it erie and when I have been working and clearing
there I always feel as if I am being watched or someone has come into the
garden and I have to leave to take a look etc.

I cant call it malevolent but its not a happy feeling. Its also very cold
with a biting wind that cuts across it . I have tried to put in a wind
break in several places but to no effect. Its cold on the hottest of days.
The rest of the garden doesn't seem to have any kind of wind problem at all.

Ive also had several accidents and incidents in this part of the garden.
Each time I change anything or disturb anything I end up stung by wasps ( in
December?). The fence has fallen down and the Cornish wall has collapsed. I
am currently repairing both. Hence my comments today. Ive been down there
again and felt this feeling.

Ive tried clearing the area . Tidying and altering it. Taking down large
over grown bushes and re planting and even done some hard landscaping but
this feeling abides.
Its a large narrow section of garden about 20 ft by 100 ft strip across the
back of the garden.
The garden is SW facing and this is western part of it. In the one corner
there is a green house. I am not happy going in there either although there
are no growing problems. I got a good crop of tomatoes last year, although
the first year I bought it into use I thought I had tobacco virus! However,
subsequent years have shown no such problem.

Anyone ever come across anything like this in their garden?
Likely answers to a cause? rational ones would be good , but I'll entertain
anything within reason!
Any solutions?

Haven't got any answers logical or otherwise but maybe some research into

It might be worthwhile posting this to Uk.religion.pagan they've done a few
threads on this recently

Yes, I too have had that feeling out in the open although it's more usual to
get it in a building of some kind.
If you ever get to Freemantle take a trip round the old jail and try to go
into the cell where the condemned prisoners spent their last night on your
own, if you are sensitive to these things, as you appear to be, the heavy
feeling of total despair in that room is overwhelming.

What to do.
1/ What a relative has seen a West Indian friend do (but indoors) is
sprinkle some spirit in every corner, every nook and cranny, whilst firmly
asking the "presence" to go from this place and leave you alone. The wind
that came from nowhere and went through the house nearly blew her over, a
bit spooky, but then everything was alright afterwards.
2/ Get in touch with your local Bishop via your Vicar, he will have some
vicars that specialise as exorcists available to cure such problems as
yours, they all do although they don't advertise the fact.
3/ Get your local archaeologists round to do a geophis and see if there is
anything under the ground.

Just a follow up on this, when I asked a similar question on uk.relgion.pagan
they did mention something called infra sound being linked to hauntings.

This was one of the links I came up with.

I have refrained from making a posting such as this before because I am
sure someone will take the p*ss!
I am not superstitious and I am not prone to being led by my emotions
generally.

snip

This is obviously bothering you a lot or you wouldn't have posted on it and
risked the mick taking. I've only felt what you describe in one garden and
luckily, it wasn't mine. I have felt it in buildings to the point where
I've had to leave them quickly and in a couple of houses I've lived in,
there were rooms I wouldn't sit in alone, especially after dark. In one
house I was staying in, in France, I saw a sort of manifestation and felt
the presence of great malevolence. I'm telling you all this, so that you
will know I'm not at all inclined to disbelieve you or rib you!
My advice to you is to get your local vicar to come to the garden and bless
it with holy water. (I did this in one house and it worked - didn't bother
in the other)
Explain the problem to him and if he is a man of any experience in the
church or any compassion, he won't be surprised and he won't scoff. If
Christianity is not your 'thing', then a similar representative of your
beliefs, pagan or otherwise, should be able to help you. You could also
contact the British Spiritualist Association (I think that's the right name)
who should be able to help you find someone in your area. Such a person
might be able to find out what is troubling your garden and know how to deal
with it.
I strongly suggest that you do NOT attempt to deal with this yourself. I
know people who were healers who did this kind of work from time to time and
who insist that it's very dangerous for an amateur to mess with.
It seems to me very important for you that you get this dealt with - if you
don't, you'll allow it to grow into a much bigger problem for your mind to
deal with and you'll find yourself avoiding that area, altogether.
And as a final suggestion, have you tried talking to your neighbours about
this - longer term residents, I mean?

It has been shown that a lot of spooky places are 'haunted' by
infrasound - that is, low notes on or just below the audible range.
These can be reverberations of the wind - even a light breeze - in what
amounts to large cavities.

Something to try. Find someone with a reel-to-reel tape recorder. Borrow
it. Run an extension lead out to the area, and when you get the creepy
feeling, start the recorder on a low speed.

Play back on a higher speed later. There may be an audible note.

If not, I am an exorcist..... (No, I'm not pulling yer plonker.)
