Default translation help?

I have the need to find out if there is some website that does translations. I have a gentleman in France that is writing to me about tomato's and this time, the message came predominately in French. I don't really have the capability to translate and he was able to let me know he speaks very little English. Is there a website that you can enter a text message to and it'll translate it? (I sure wish we had a universal translator................................) thanks for the help.

Could you please turn off the html posting. I comes through looking like
this for most of us:
!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"
HTMLHEAD
META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"

Yes there are translators out there. One of the better free ones is Babel
fish:

http://world.altavista.com/

I would also strongly suggest that you look into the FireFox web browser.
There is a plug-in that translate web pages right on the spot. Besides,
Internet exploder is such a security risk now A days and it's such a
non-compliant web browser to the w3c codes... It's not even worth turning
on imho.

Stop over here and see if your browser is at risk for the new malicious
code trojan:

Good luck to you.

Sorry to say Ricky, that just won't work on my machine
The usenet has been a text only format for the past 25+ years. My news
reader doesn't even have an html option. Seeing all the security issues
that surround the windows O.S. and seeing how all kinds of evil scripts
can be embedded into html, and seeing how *some* people on the usenet
enjoy spreading viruses, why would anyone take that chance. You should
always take great caution reading html messages in the usenet and in email....

I agree. She need to stop the html postings. Her text is coming through as
italics on my screen, which is very difficult to read.
It also uses up much more space than needed.

ok. there it is. plain text. no Comic sans script in italics, no bandwith
being taken up. just plain old letters. I hope everyone who is still ****ed
at me for just liking to post in something other than ordinary letters will
forgive me for this. My program allows me to select different Fonts and
sizes and what not. I seem to have not realized that there were so many who
were being offended, or put off from reading or participating in my posts
because of my HTML postings. I've fixed it. And I'm not being sarcastic
or defensive. I'd much rather get along than make waves.

madgardener slipping into lurk mode now. (thanks for the great resources for
translating the text, by the way. I've bookmarked the site and am now
cutting and pasting Christian's letter to me. )

Twas not my intent to be rude and hopefuly you didn't take it as such.
Html adds a some overhead to the nntp systems, but in todays broadband
world, it's really not that big of a deal. Like I stated before, many of
us non-windows users don't have access to news readers that will even
render html, let alone post in it and many windows users use real news
clients and their clients are the same way. Top posting, html posting
clients are a confection of Bill Gates and people tend to do what the
mail/news client does by default.
Again, sorry if I came acrossed as gruff, wasn't my intent.

I just found out that somehow Outlook express has altered the way I copy and
paste comics that I send to myself and my son and friend. It used to go as
JPG's and now they are converted to GIF and instead of a comic just being on
the e-mail I receive (which was way easier to move to a folder I've marked
"comics" for saving) it now has little red paperclips that say "GIF" next to
them and when I click to open them, I get a warning first before opening
them. And to add to my aggrivation, my husband now tells me that with
regular upgrades that Microsoft offers on regularity, some of the security
measures are so extreme now, they don't even allow some perfectly harmless
e-mail to get thru. I want to get off the teat and get my computer on a
better program. How I don't know. I have a bad feeling I'll have to start
from scratch and get a new software and everything. plus backing up
everything first so I don't lose what I have now. Bill Gates is evil for
doing this. And before someone asks me where have I been. it sometimes takes
me a bit to "get it".
Like there are some things I can't send to my garden friend who has a MAC
because his computer runs better. In fact, he's never had ANY problems with
worms, viruses, trojan codes and destructive things sent out in the last
seven years because he HAS a MAC computer and program. But I can't send him
some things because his computer isn't compatable in some programs. very
frustrating to me. It feels like I'm using a phone from 1930 trying to talk
to someone using a can and a string.............(not a good analogy as his
MAC seems to be far better than my IBM that uses Microsucks, and I have the
Windoz 2000 XP pro version. Unable to buy a home edition to put on my
machine because you can have home version on your computer and upgrade to
pro, but not have pro and "downgrade".
Again, sorry if I came acrossed as gruff, wasn't my intent.

I didn't take it as such. Hopefully my HTML has been turned off and this
will come out as plain text. If not, just let me know and I'll go back into
settings in my options and try again.

If your really in the market to make a move from Outlook, then check out
this:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/why/

This is a mail/newsreader that is very stable and secure. I hear tell that
it will even import Outlook databases.

And while your at it you should take a peek at:

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

I promise you, after playing with FireFox for a week, you'll never go back
to Internet Distroyer 80) I'm in love with the tabbed browsing.

As far as you copy paste issue, maybe just attaching them to the email
message instead of inserting them into the message body would help? I have
my mail client ignore all html and binary due to security issues that can
arise with embedded code. I tend to want to see what's in my message Vrs
being shown my message.

If your looking for a big change away for Micro$oft, then you may want to
look into mac. Mac just came out with a $500.00 system.

http://www.apple.com/macmini/

I'm thinking about getting one for my daughter due to it's small size.
Will have to see if she can stand the mac os or not. Mac's also have tons
of free software out there in the open source market.

Your friend shouldn't have too many issues now' day's with anything that
you send him. Mac/linux support most everything now. With my linux system
I can create and or read word docs, ms powerpoint.. etc with open office.

http://www.openoffice.org/

I can do everything with Open Office that a windows user can do with MS
office.

If you think I write alot, you should hear me talk...
Have a good day.

I *love* Firefox. Have d'loaded Thunderbird, but I use a non-Outlook
e-mail app already, and have been too lazy to explore it yet. I love
how customizable Firefox is. I've got tools all in one place that used
to require stept 1-27 to execute. Found a 'skin' that pleases me no
end. I keep IE around because every so often, you run into a
M'soft-dominated site that just won't play with anything else.
