Default Will anoles eat scorpions?

Just curious - do anoles eat scorpions, or do they avoid stingy-type
insects in favor of easier prey?

Anoles eat bugs. Scorpions would probably eat anoles.

Anoles will eat anything that moves...

including each other. ;-)

Hm, that'd have to be one hell of a big scorpion...... G

Actually, that's what my first thought was - but forcing them to duke it
out wouldn't really answer the question of what they'd do in the wild.

Hehe
Gotta admit the only scorpions I know are the black ones they sell in the pet
stores an I've never seen an anole eat anything but a bug. I figure the
scorpion would sting and kill the anole before it could eat it. But I do not
know this for a FACT.

Not a joke actually... ;-)
When I was a Sophomore in College, I used to collect some of the "local"
scorpions as pets.

One of the females had babies and like scorpions do, she carried them on
her back.

I tried to provide them with food (baby mealworms) but the mother
scorpion died. Her babies sucked her dry.

Then the crickets I'd put in the tank to feed her ate the baby
scorpions.......

Scorpions _are_ "bugs"!

The best way we ever found to control scorpions was a small flock of pet
mallard ducks.

They never hesitated to eat scorpions!

Really? I thought they were an invertebrate, some kind of crab-type creature.
Guess I'll have to look them up. But not right now, got stuff to do.

Scorpions are in the same "Order" as spiders.
They are an arachnid due to the possession of 8 legs:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorpion

Classification of living creatures goes as follows:

Kingdom
Phylum
Class
Order
Family
Genus
Species

I believe that scorpions are in the class "Insecta".

And yes, I did some googling to check my memory from when I took Zoology
back in college... After all, it's been slightly over 20 years. G

But it was a subject that fascinated me. :-)

BTW, insects are all "invertebrates".

Crabs are crustaceans.

Scorpions are not crustaceans.

Cheers! :-)

Om,

You might want to take another look at the sidebar of the Wikipedia link you
cited.

Insects - including "true" bugs (insecta), spiders and scorpions (arachnida)
and crabs (crustacea) are all arthropods.

Of course some folks consider anything creepy-crawly to be a "bug." (that's
an annelid, you fool!)

But when it comes down TO it, scorpions are just gross! I like snakes, spiders
are cool, most critters are at least interesting, but scorpions for me are one
of those repulsive creatures that just have no reason for being. A purely
personal reaction (phobia?) and one I don't need a lecture on.
