Squash vine Borers
Every year I am plagued by squash vine borers. My plants are usually done by
the end of June. I have tried it all, BT, cover cloth, etc. and I also find the physical extraction of the little *******s not the answer. So this year I was told to plant in white PVC pipe and the pest would not find my plants. Does anyone have any experience with this technique and is it for real? I noticed this evening that I had a borers starting in on one of my vines. Thanks Jim |

Squash vine Borers
We've given up on squash because of the borers. Carol Ann (from Boggy
Creek Farm) says they use row cover (immediately after planting and only open it to harvest) and a large number of plants. They plant enough for the borers that get through the cover and for the market. Why not get your squash from Boggy Creek? They have awesome varieties, including several heirlooms. -- Victor Martinez Send your spam he Email me he |

I have. In summer zucchini is so easy to find and cheaply that it's not worth the angst to me. I haven't heard about this pvc thing, but please do report back if you find any more about it. victoria Need a good, cheap, knowledge expanding present for a friend? http://www.animaux.net/stern/present.html |
