Yes, 1 carat each LOL. *How's your new garden coming along now? *I was
interested in your submarine thing, it will be interesting to hear
about your progress with it. *I have a new greenhouse just waiting for
my husband to put it up. *Poor man has taken an awful fall going down
a steep path to where the new veg plot will be, he stumbled, fell and
hit his forehead on a wooden peg holding, what was a step in place,
said step has since rotted. *He had a bleed all the way down past his
nose, both eyes are black. *He went to our doctor who referred him to
hospital. *Everything is o.k. Thank God, but he has to have another
follow up as his blood pressure was sky high. *It's good to talk over
the garden fence, isn't it?

Judith

Heavens, Judith - that's *awful*. *He's lucky (sort of!) that it wasn't
worse. *Hope he's mending well now.

He actually looks quite bad Sacha, our daughters are concerned, they
know that for him to go to a doctor and to hospital, it has to be
serious, he is one stoic man. I am looking after him, he says I am
fussing, but he would do the same for me.

Judith

Fussing after an injury like that is good. I fussed when one of our dogs
accidentally bit Ray. He wouldn't respond to my fussing and ended up in
hospital for 2 nights, missing a grandchild's christening. Actually, none
of this is 'fussing', it's good sense.

No, but we just bought a book *I think you need to speak to Val.

Judith knows I've a lot of experience with hens. *

When we were farming we kept hundreds of free range hens for egg production.
I also bred pure bred Rhode Island Reds, and Light Sussex and was listed
with the Farmers' Union as a specialist breeder. *

We also had over 300 geese at one time and hatched their eggs in specially
designed goose eggs hatchers. *We sold geese as breeding trios, goslings,
young geese for fattening, and also at one time fully plucked and prepared
for table.

Val I will email you for help as soon as we get them, I won't ask here
as I know that my lack of knowledge will be pathetic. I hadn't
realised just how extensive your production was, when my feet touch
the ground I will email you. Hope you and yours are keeping well.

I've loads of experience so hopefully will have answers to any of your
questions

Good Morning Val!
It looks like the West of England is getting the best of the weather
today. It is a chill wind but the sun is shining and sheltered from the
wind a most pleasant day here in Dorset. You?
John has roped me in for trench digging.
BTW being an experienced hen whisperer, I have a wayward speckled hen
needs some training. You up for it?

We've been having periods of bright sunshine interspersed with almost April
showers here in Mid Devon. Pretty chilly wind but on the whole a good day
for the garden - must remember to cover my tender veg shoots with fleece
later as we've been warned of a sharp frost tonight!

As for digging trenches, take care as that can be a back breaker !

I fear your wayward speckled hen has trained YOU not the other way about lol
But she sounds delightful and a real pet

You are so right. One glance at Biddy and Benji sharing the same bed
would melt your heart.

Thanks Emery, he is pretty poorly. We went out to lunch today with
friends and I was the driver. His eyes are almost shut, he can't read
or watch t.v. we have an appointment at the Clinique at 9a.m. on
Monday just to ensure that there is not an underlying problem. I will
pass on your best wishes.

Give him a cork to take with him au clinique - these French medics have
a habit of administering underlying remedies...

Shirley not straight from the fridge? Perhaps a little singeing, a
little pepper and salt and a lorra heat.
Preferably a touch of marinade or stuffing.
BUT not my chooks. Not sure what I will do when they stop laying, but
the thought of eating one of them does not appeal.

Bobbie:-)
