Default Lotus Bloom

My Lotus has bloomed, http://darofamily.com/jeff/easyurl/pondphotos.htm.
Click on July 28th for pictures. I also think I have a raccoon or other
critter visiting. Some of plants are knocked over, and two of the planters
are moved off their shelves. Also found some interesting droppings near the
pond edge.

Nedra it is good to be back. Camping was wonderful. So tell me...how do you
identify what type I have? As far as Aroma...the bloom is too far away from
the edge for me to get a sniff.

How I tell .. The full bloom is creamy colored with
pinkish color around the sides of the bloom. It is so
easily identified. Usually, the aroma guides me right to
it...'course mine aren't out in the middle of my pond either.
lol MPDS changes color every day. Looks like you have
a day two or three. First day it opens, it is a lovely pink.

AK!
I expected a lovely picture of a lotus and I
opened to a picture of raccoon poop!

I'm betting that is who is trashing your pond.
If he comes back what are you planning to do.
Traps, scarecrow sprinklers and/or fi-shock fencing usually do the trick.
(With the fi-shock fence you get revenge too ;-)

I don't think it is my cat. She is much to civilized to poop on the ground.
And my dog is no so petite in her work. I figure a dead fish, knocked over
plants in the shallows...must be a coon.

I must ask this question seriously...does that picture look like coon poop?
If so...I am getting the bro-in-law's paint ball gun, and will be doing some
camping this weekend. Night vision vid cam on tripod, paint ball gun on max
setting.

The teenagers just got DSL so that means mom can research to her heart's
content. I found

a picture ~
http://www.pestquest.info/expertise/
(ewww!)

and descriptions ~

Raccoon scat tends not to have points, often having a more blunt end

appearance (sometimes compared to a Tootsie Rollâ„¢).
Scat (droppings) is generally dark coloured but that depends on what the animal
has been eating.Â* Scat has a granular appearance and tends to be even in width
like dog droppings are.Â*
Raccoon scat is tubular and blunt on the ends. Scat may contain parasites that
can get into human lungs, so handling it is not advisable.

.I am getting the bro-in-law's paint ball gun, and will be doing some

camping this weekend. Night vision vid cam on tripod, paint ball gun on max
setting.

Another nomination for Roark Over the Top Pond Engineering Award.
I want to hear ALL the details. Reminds me of my Gerbil in Glass Tank with
Video Recording to catch THE SNAKE in the house.

Oh, Nedra, you call the Mrs. PDS' smell an 'aroma'? To my nose, they stink!
Mine has a smell of when someone uses perfume to try to cover up a nasty
smell. The two smells combine, making it worse. Do other lotus' smell
better?

But, Wendy, MPDS has the strongest aroma of any of the
lotuses. That is my interpreation it anyway. Maybe Perry's
Super Star is close. Which is not surprising since they are
related. Your nose is funny! lololol

I dunno...my neighbors love the Bradford Pears in the neighborhood. Every
year when they bloom I at some point, check the baby's diaper, and my wife
laughs. I hate the stench made by those 'flowers'.

I think so. John, don't you think raccoon inspired face paint would be
appropriate for this action?
And I think he should rise out of the pond like Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now.
