I have just received an email from Thompson and Morgan saying they
have a brown turkey fig in a 4 litre pot (not very big) on offer for
16.99 GBP

http://www.thompson-morgan.com/fruit...dww3594/1.html

Probably worth shopping around:

http://www.readsnursery.co.uk/acatalog/Figs.html

Probably, as rRad's is two GBP cheaper than Thompson & Morgan. I can't
say I am enamoured with T&M, qat present having bought two packets of
their seeds with only half a dozen miniscule seeds inside each packet.
One of them was black coleus, which hasn't germinated at all.

I have just browsed the figs I didn't know there were so many. I want
one that I can grow on a warm wall, hot summers but vicious winters,
any suggestions?

Old WWII aircraft were popular as chicken coops.

We were thinking that the number one court at Wimbledon could be used for plants
during the 49 weeks of the year it is unused.

My wife is absolutely convinced that number one court is only used for
Wimbledon. Then again she could be wrong for once.

I hope you like the taste of humble pie. ;-))

Apart from the Centre and No. 1 Courts, the courts are

It's the centre court that has the retractable cover isn't it? Saying No. 1
court was my mistake.

Centre court has the new retractable cover, I believe but both are used
only for the championships so your money-saving, space-saving idea is
'out of court'. Ahem.

When Wimbledon is on, I am glued to the t.v. My poor husband,
although he enjoys tennis, says watching 2 matches a day is just too
much! I remind him that I don't watch much t.v. apart from that, some
men are never happy grumble... grumble...

Well, Sacha, I haven't posted here for several years although I have
lurked occasionally. *If I had enough gardening knowledge, I would
happily write an FAQ about something but I don't think I am qualified to
do so.

OTOH, I could do one on growingfigsbecause someone here gave me good

interested in growingfigs. *In any case, there isn't a great deal to

Our winters are very mild in north London, so I don't do anything to

It's a great idea. My greenhouse blew away into a heap so I now have
my grandsons' old metal swing, see saw and climbing rope frame,
covered in plastic as a makeshift greenhouse; it actually works!!

I turned mine into a bean cage, which involved a bit of wiring up,
but has worked very well for several years.

Good grief. I love a fig , cut like a jacket potato, opened up a bit
and lay in a huge slice of Mozzarella, a bit of Parma or Auvergne
ham, drizzle over some olive oil and eat as a starter.
