What "said plan" are you refering to if implemented, and which statistics

What don't do what? after my 7 years?

Talk about confused. I am.

What are BOGOFs &c ?

It's where are supermarket inflate the price of an item by 100% and then
offer Buy One and Get One Free. Most BOGOF items can be purchased for
half the price elsewhere (but not usually in the MAJOR competing
supermarkets at the same time) . The biggest rip-off at the major
supermarkets is BOGOFs on fruit and vegetables where the price is raised
by x3 or x4 before the "free" offer.

Unfortunatly it's not that simple, at least not this year as milk(even
uht), bread etc.and even petrol/diesel have been very hard to get due
to the snow, so we have had to take any opportunity to get these
items. The day I was trapped in the Tesco car park I was getting these
articles as we were simply desperate for petrol.
Our shopping does not alter for Christmas otherwise I WOULD do it
early, but yes I take your point.

As Harold Macmillan said "Events dear boy, events!" Perhaps it should
have been "Planning for events dear boy etc." It's not as if it's
unexpected :-))

Regardless - I hope you and yours have an enjoyable holiday; have a
great break and a peaceful and healthy New Year.

Thanks for the history lesson:-)

Not everyone has a horse and cart or public transport, and even if they
did, on our frozen roads recently how would they get a-b.

It could be that Mr Macmillan did not know how to store petrol legally in
this century, or at least forgot to let you know.

Mr Macmillan would be proud of me for planing ahead with my legal storage
of petrol.

After that, yes, I should have bought an extra freezer which I can't
afford and put it in a place I havn't room for and put in it some panic
buys that I havn't got the petrol to go and buy

Norman Tebbit once said "on your bike"(only joking)

Without going on too much about this, my family often live hand to mouth,
we don't earn too much though we have to have 2 cars for our jobs and
have put all our investement into the house. We have given up loads of
our passions just to keep up with the increasing cost of paying for the
flaming *place. It was easy at first and we were paying it off as fast as
we could and just as well we did too.

You certainly want to pay it off as fast as poss. Interest rates are
bound to go up soonish. You often see free freezers on these
"freecycle" sites.
However you should examine your freezer contents carefully. They can
soon get filled with trash. The main reason for big freezer capacity
is if you grow your own veg/fruit/etc. You need to use freezer stuff
in rotation, difficult if it's a chest type.

Peelings go on compost, birds get scraps, still got veg out of the

harry,
What are BOGOFs &c ?

You are lucky to still get veg out of your garden.

ALL my hardy(winter) veg are rotting or rotten, even parsnip.

Yes chucking things in the basket at random...done that.
But I was a very young uninformed father then and it took my mother in the
supermarket to educate me about the ins and outs of it all.

20 years on and I am still one of the worst, but my OH knows a bit more
now.

Buy One Get One Free. BOGOF.
You need to dig up your root crops & wash & dry & and store them in
sand/peat in the garage or somewhere frost free. This keeps them from
wizening up. Look out for free plastic stacking crates for this
purpose.
Or you can leave them in the ground & cover with straw/leaves/compost
etc.

Other stuff can be cooked or blanched & frozen. Fruit, beans, rhubarb
etc.
My wife turns stuff into soups, divides into portions, freezes & puts
in plastic bags which live in the freezer. (Tomatoes Celery etc.)
You have to be selective what you grow if you have only limited space/
time. Grow the expensive stuff. Potatos &c may be satisfying but they
are cheap to buy.

Sorry to be cryptic. I assumed you meant that you intended to give the
house away to family to avoid care charges and/or inheritance tax.
Either way the 7 year issue raises its ugly head.
Perhaps you should tell *us* what your plan is :-)
