Cost of Garden Centres versus Nurseries
Am I out of touch or is this normal pricing?
Gill Hall A nursery near us has become very popular by word of mouth - they have rows upon rows of polytunnels filled with shrubs, summer bedding, hedging etc and these are about half the price of same at garden centres. However, they do buy in some more exotic plants from abroad and these seem to be priced similar to those at garden centres. I've noticed that as their popularity has increased to the general public their prices are sliding up gradually though. However, if you want to get good value for money but choose from a limited range of stock, then nurseries are well worth visiting. They are almost worth it for the exercise walking around - some of them are huge! -- Drakanthus. (Spam filter: Include the word VB anywhere in the subject line or emails will never reach me.) |
