Jake,
I know what you say and that would lower myself, why should I be different
because of that? It should not make any difference. If I did that and he
got to know about it, it would undermine everything he believes in.

I agree. I think it's terrifying to think this has been done as you
slept and what is almost worse is to think he'll get off with an asbo
or less.

We have a thing here I think it's called community policing, where
civillians don a uniform, paid, full time but have lesser powers than the
actual police.
It's been a few hours now since the discovery of this rotten lot, and we
have both calmed down so much.
We are going to have to think hard about security and how much budget, to
my way of thinking it is maximum. We can't have this again.

Most customers are townies, shed horseshoe nails are bit rare in
towns... Also most people these days wouldn't even know how to change
a wheel, assuming they know where the spare and/or the jack is
located.

I know where my jack and spare wheel are. I also know how to change a
wheel - my dear old Dad saw to that. My problem is I just don't have the
strength to undo the wheel nuts the tyer fitters did up with a machine.

Baz, you and Mrs Baz have my sympathy. If it's any consolation, the coward,

you know who he is.

6.30 this morning we were going out for the day. No chance. 8 slashed

I feel like giving in! For F**ks sake. We both have to go to work

This man is now in custody.

Good. I hope they make it all stick, and he gets a right miserable
magistrate on a bad hair/rotten hangover day.

If it makes you feel better, my brother, my dad, Nick, various other people,
couldn't undo my brother's, ended up having to call out the AA to fix a flat
tyre. :-/

Sympathy friend, take a look here....

Do remember to put at least one camera at eye level (hidden or disguised if
poss) as a lot of the scum wear hoodies so high cameras don't get much in
the way of ID. We used to have a special one at work that got people full
face as they came through the door and no-one knew it was a camera as it
looked like something else.
The picture must be as good as a normal TV not those useless grainy ones you
see on crimewatch, so you need to check before you buy.

The last time my car had a puncture I couldn't undo the wheel nuts and
had to call the AA. The man had some gadget that allowed greater
leverage but it stripped the corners on one of the nuts. He called
another person who arrived and produced a gadget to clamp on the nut
and then with a huge amount of effort he unscrewed the actual threaded
blot in the wheel. It took about two hours and then cost nearly £60 to
get the wheel repaired.

I've since sold my car.

Cheapest is to get a fake camera.

I bought several cheap (circa 30/40 quid) cameras when we had a fence
repeatedly smashed. The vandalism has not occurred again after several
years, and I know that the cameras were quickly spotted by local kids
because one of them slyly asked what they were for...

They are a definite deterrent, and I handed a tape to the local cops
which placed two yobs in my garden at 06:30 one morning.
No time-stamp on the video, but my statement guaranteeing that the video
recorder was set at the correct time was enough to I/D them and add a
charge of trespass to the burglary they had committed elsewhere the same
morning. They were caught after an alert neighbour saw his kitchen
door handle turn as they tried it, and called the police who were
attending the nearby burglary.

My main camera is connected to a DVD recorder and (importantly
programmed to record at all times except for evening TV viewing. :-)

Security measures are best installed *before* incidents happen, and
upgraded from time to time.

A personal not eto Baz, I understand how you feel, because we were
troubled by street gangs in this otherwise respectable area, until
cooperation between local councillors and the police broke them up.
Since the introduction of ASBOS it has been very quiet here...

Don't let the b*****ds ruin your health, I would think that they are
unlikely to return...

What we need are more policemen, and what we are getting are many less
policeman. But it's good for the economy.

Where to get tyres is top of my list now. The price is mad as well with

I used E-Tyres for my last tyre changes, the price was good and they
came and changed the tyres on my drive.
If you call early, they will often fit them next day, and I would think
your case would get priority.

I often see (as everyone must) anti-social behaviour, but being a
devout coward I say nothing. If you admonish someone for litter
dropping you will at least get a mouthful of verbal abuse, perhaps
worse. I don't think it worth it. Which is why it is so prevalent I
suspect.

This is where PCSOs have made a difference, in Tameside, there are
regularly fines of £175 handed out for dropping a cigarette end!

I've had 12 in my Volvo 70 as the wheels are low profile. i also have to
have at least one every year at the MOT, and I don't do that many miles!
I got about 6 last year after the winter had kindly left holes in the
road big enough to whack the tyres into submission!
