CATS ARE NOT VERMIN.

A dictionary definition of vermin:
Various small animals or insects, such as rats or cockroaches, that are
destructive, annoying, or injurious to health.

Cockroaches aren't destructive or injurious to health. There's no reason
they should even be annoying.

Lots of things ARE annoying though ... (see below)

Cats are destructive.
Several people in URG are annoyed by them.
Their feces contain deseases.

like teenagers.

Lack of parental control

and the cat lovers need not come back on that one. I have three daughters
and a son, they had parental control and have turned out to be four children
I am proud off. Qualifications, Degrees, Professional status, they have the
lot.

I don't think I need a signature any more

We have three sons and two daughters and the same applies to all of them.
Even as teenagers we were proud of them, they were a credit to themselves.
Some said we gave them too much freedom, some said we were too strict, we
have no regrets because they turned out far happier and more responsible
than the children of our critics.

A Mother's Day card sent to Mum from Son:-
(On the front)

"Mum, I used to think you were so gullible,

"I have cleaned my teeth
I didn't take the last biscuit
It bled without being picked
I did have a bath this morning
I'm too ill to go to school
I didn't tread in anything nasty
I don't have any homework
I have been revising
I'd never stick gum there
I didn't ring them,,, they rang me
I thought you said home by eleven
I didn't touch the whisky
I'd never smoke anything
I can be trusted Mum"

(and inside?)

Now I realise you were simply loving me.

(And I love you for it)

Joan had four wonderful Mother's Day cards just as I receive some superb

But I'm not in the business of winning! I'm not combative. If people want to
cross swords with me they're onto a bad thing.

I find it sad that an adult needs to write something like this.

May I remind you that cats are also loved? And that their rodent
control activities demand that they be allowed to roam freely?

Next time a moggie shits on your lawn, stop and think about the
number of rats and mice she has destroyed. I think if you look
into it, you'll find that cats are an important part of keeping
the rodent population under control. Would you prefer an outbreak
of plague or Black Death to an immaculate lawn.

BTW, if you want to repel cats from your property, Bruce Fogel in
"The Cat's Mind" suggests using mothballs. You may also get
results by splashing fenceposts and other scent-marking targets
with your own urine.

Oh come ON!!!!!!!!

I've had cats - only one at a time - and when the most recent made his last
visit to the vet we both wept, we'd had him for nearly 21 years and he'd
spent more time with us than the children had. But he wasn't a nuisance to
neighbours - as theirs were and are to us.

Now we have two pen hens and they are worried by local cats, quite apart
from the garden digging and depositing they do.

We don't have an immaculate lawn - only vegetables which are sprayed by cats
and scratched up - at best.

And cats don't just 'keep the rodent population under control' - they also
keep the wild small bird population down when it's under threat from other
sources too.

As for plague and black death, that's just silly and not worth commenting
on.

Mary.

I'm not interested in joining the debate about cats, but I strongly believe
that the statement above is just plain wrong at best. It would not be
possible to raise a successful action against someone who called cats vermin
in a newsgroup. Insulting cats is not against the law. It could not
seriously be described as incitement of any kind.

You just made it up.
